Powder Core | What are the advantages of distributed air gap materials?

All Magnetics powder core materials are suitable for use in inductors, but different materials have different benefits. For inductors requiring very low losses, molybdenum permalloy should be used because it has the lowest losses. For designs where DC bias is dominant and small size is required, the high flux core with the highest flux should be used. For reasonably low magnetic losses and high saturation at low cost,  should be used because the cost is economical. The iron-silicon alloy provides a more economical use of a high saturation material (1.6T) in low and medium frequency inductor and choke coil applications. Its high saturation is beneficial in applications where inductance is critical under load design. To learn more about the material comparison.
